Still in Love with the Sporty Chic Aesthetic

WHEN LOCKDOWN BEGAN five months ago, was already beginning to commit less days to wearing full make-up, especially on days where there were no outside appointments. If I needed to run errands, would simply wear dark oversized sunglasses and call it a day. As the months wore on, I was not only wearing makeup less and less, but had also done away with proper clothes and living in sweatshirts and sweatpants. As it happens, it would seem that the world was doing the same, for in the month of April it was reported in the US that clothing sales (with the exception of sweats) fell by 79%. No one has anywhere to dress up for anymore. The result for the fashion industry has been catastrophic, and according to some, perhaps the major shakeup that it needed. I can’t speak for everyone, but I continue to live in my comfy sweats to date, and honestly wonder what will happen when there is something to get dressed up for again. I’m content to keep things cosy by embracing the Sporty Chic aesthetic, for now or perhaps forever… (Or at least until there’s a vaccine.)
