A Modern & Sophisticated Park Avenue Apartment

WE FEATURED THE New York home of Lauren McGrath of interior design firm, McGrath II, four years ago, in September 2015. Today, we’ve come across this Park Avenue project and fell in love with its undeniable elegance.

Designed for a couple with three small children, the firm wanted to create a classic space that still felt young.  French, Italian, and English antiques intermingled with the clients’ contemporary art collection amongst velvet sofas, skirted tables and canopy beds. Beautiful design details such as stenciling on the library’s burlap walls, faux finishing on the library doors to make them look as if they had been found in Sweden mix with existing items from the clients, such as a smokey-rose pink Venini chandelier and matching sconces in the dining room (heirlooms the client’s grandfather brought back from Italy after the war) mix to create the perfect balance.
