Giambattista Valli Spring 2015 Ready-to-Wear, Paris

AFTER MRS. GEORGE CLOONEY WORE A COUTURE VALLI DRESS THE DAY AFTER HER WEDDING, the world can’t stop talking about the designer. The fact that he sent such a beautiful collection down the runway further attests to the international praise and commendment his designs are about to receive. For spring, Valli was inspired by Japan’s postwar movement, where artisanal and industrial techniques amalgamated into one — thus the precision of the A-line silhouettes, the subtle, deliberate and slightly mutinous details found in the form of a black stripe around the waist on a crisp white feather gown or black commas on a flared dress with a modernised violet flower print, and dresses with an ever-present floral motif delicately hidden among white fringes. —Victoria
