BOHEMIAN IS NOT something am normally drawn to, and yet, inexplicably drawn to this bright and beautiful Greenwich Village apartment. The home of Michael Mailer, a film producer and Sasha Lazard, an opera singer & heiress, it was published an astonishing 8 years ago, in 2006. The décor still looks lovely today, even if the couple are no longer together . . .
Decorated by Emma Jane Pilkington, the townhouse showcases the designer’s signature pairings of carefully selected clean-lined and classic furniture with luxurious textiles and shots of colour.
The place is a beautiful intermingling of 1890s teak, 1940s Louis XVI–style chairs, 1890s French chandeliers, bright colours and patterns from India and around the world.
Above, a Muriel Brandolini coverlet intermingles with an English colonial teak bed frame.
