. . . there is a coffee shop, not far from here, on which is written on the wall, the words, “take time to see the wonders of the world , to see the things you’ve only ever heard of, dream life the way you think it ought to be, see things you thought you’d never ever see” . . .
. . . and it is in this coffee shop . . .
. . . that a handbag was absentmindedly left, a mere four days after the flight had landed, and it would not be for another four hours until the missing handbag was noticed, long after the café had closed, causing a flurry of panicked calls to banks and credit card cancellations, only to find the handbag waiting in the morning, when the café had reopened; someone, had, of course, turned it in, untouched, renewing our citified hearts’ faith in the world, and so began our adventures . . .
. . . and if you have been following along on instagram, you will already know that we have been spending the past few weeks in beautiful, quaint edinburgh, exploring cobblestone streets and castles, strolling through secret gardens and along windswept beaches, whiling aways afternoons in dusky cafés and ever cosy pubs, visiting art gallerys and museums and the most spectacular antique shops, and at the end of the day, spending evenings by firelight and candlelight, and so, a few glimpses, here and there, of how we have been passing our exquisite days and weeks . . .
Ah my home town! I thought I recognised the first photos. Really one of the most beautiful places on earth – if I look out my bedroom window I can see the castle at one end of the street, and the sea at the other. Not many cities can boast that! So glad you seem to have enjoyed it, the city does Christmas/Hogmanay rather well.
Very beautiful photos!!! I hope to visit it soon!!
Love love love. These images really show how stunning Edinburgh is – more so than the gaudy pics used on souvenirs and postcards.
