It’s been quite a few days since I first entered the space of L’Officine Universelle Buly. There is no need to say how badly I felt in love with their universe — the most beautiful apothecary in Paris.
La Maison Bully opened its doors in 1803, in the elegant Rue Saint-Honoré. They have the most refined selection of beauty products: a signature pommade concrète hand cream, handmade soaps, dried peony petals for the bathtub, marble candles, essential oils, the watercolor painted ceramic bottles of water-based perfumes and soaps, all made in the tradition of nineteenth-century craftsmanship, and everything carefully presented with a touch of Parisian savoir-faire.

Victoire de Taillac et Ramdane Touhami have réinventé, modernized and carefully resurrected the French old fashioned pharmacy. Jean-Vincent Buly was the inventor of la lotion de toilette vinaigrée somewhere around two hundred years ago. The “Vinaigre de Bully”, a patented aromatic lotion created to “perform ablutions and preserve skin tone”, earned a flattering reputation across Europe.
The place is made of all the perfect details that transports you instantly into a XIXe siècle parfume boutique: all the bottles perfectly aligned, rare marbres, and crafted wood office furniture for displays. To achieve the 17th-century dispensary ambiance Touhami worked with artisans to create the shop using techniques from the period.
