THIS WEEK’S At Home With features the Georgian Townhouse of Lauren Buxbaum Gordon, design director of Nate Berkus Associates, who has worked alongside the latter for nearly 15 years. Despite a few ideas from Nate (a coffee bar upstairs, turning the original master bedroom into a shoe closet and completely rearranging the home library bookcases), the entire project was really all Gordon’s.
The 1883 Georgian townhouse in Chicago’s historic Gold Coast district is now a beautiful mix of old and new, modern and antiques (a love she acquired from her her parents’ antique business) a Baccarat crystal chandelier and a new low-slung coffee table of her own design, original black-and-white marble floors and gilded mirrors, an astonishing spiral staircase that spans three flights and more …
