Décor Inspiration: Restrained Luxury at Saint-Sulpice, Paris, by Jean Charles Tomas

This stunning 180m2 apartment in Saint-Sulpice, Paris is the work of Parisian-based interior designer Jean Charles Tomas of JeanCharlesTomas studio. All intricate crown moulding and marble, Tomas describes it as the juxtaposition of “lush materiality with sleek, edited lines” that highlights both “masculine and feminine silhouettes with high-contrast, architectural detail for an air of improvised sophistication and effortless luxury”.

Raised in Nice, Tomas studied design in Paris before setting off on a career that would find him at architectural and interior design firms in New-York, Paris and Monaco. After creating a network of artisans and craftspeople through the creation of bespoke furnishings and productions over the years,Tomas launched his own design studio early last year.

The studio favours graceful, one-of-a-kind spaces filled with natural elements such as heirloom woods and custom stone and metalwork. The designer’s focus is always on subtle, sophisticated touches and revised, spirited luxury as well as restrained elegance or, as we like to call it: ornate austerity
