Runway: Elie Saab Spring 2017 Haute Couture, Paris

THE ELIE SAAB SPRING 2017 couture collection is said to be (according to the Lebanese designer‘s extensive show notes), a representation the golden age of Egyptian cinema. Sketches and photographs compiled in the book for each guest paint the story of bygone glamour and sky and sands of the Sahara in post-War Egypt. It’s what the designer calls the “Arab epoch”, and actress Faten Hamama starring opposite Omar Sharif, from film I Don’t Sleep sets the scene. Click through for a breathtaking array of sequins and lace as only Elie Saab knows how, feathers and satin and embellished bodices befitting of film stars …
