Décor Inspiration | Interior Designer Pamela Pierce

The graceful lines of French and Gustavian furniture and decorative pieces will always add elegance to a room, but mix them with sleek modern designs and you have an aesthetic that is at once edgy yet oh so romantic.

Pamela Pierce has been producing timeless, classic interiors for over 30 years from her design studio based in Houston, Texas. Her keen eye for balanced designs allows her to mix antiques with modern pieces like a Flos Arco lamp, Saarinen table or Frank Gehry chair to great effect and this juxtaposition adds a sense of excitement and interest to the finished schemes. Sleek steel windows also often feature, adding a modern backdrop against which to place carefully sourced antiques. Authenticity and clean lines abound in her work which is always “a fine study in light, scale, texture, and color”.

Texture is a particularly important element in her designs and she talks of the timelessness of patina, whether the timeworn surface of a waxed antique wooden floor, a wall of Venetian plaster or unlacquered brass door fittings.

The colours she uses are mainly restful, chalky neutrals with hints of gilt but a soft dusky pink or a grey-blue also sits ever so comfortably with this aesthetic. Have a look through this wonderful body of work and take inspiration for your own home . . . Louise
