Décor Inspiration: Chanel Boutique in Bergdorf Goodman, New York

The iconic monochrome palette, chic Parisian mouldings, a perfect blend of modern and classic elements with accents of gold. Oh and the camellia flower. This is most definitely a space inspired by the legendary Coco Chanel.

Designed by acclaimed architect Peter Marino, this exquisitely appointed mini boutique is an ‘Ephemeral Space’ within Bergdorf Goodman in New York showcasing Chanel Jewellery. It features sleek modern furniture and lighting alongside gilt Louis chairs, framed wallpaper panels and sunburst mirrors and, at its heart, boasts a stunning gold leaf coffee table by Yves Klein.

Symmetry abounds, as it did in Chanel’s own apartment in the Rue Cambon in Paris, imbuing the space with a grounded, classical air.

Sadly, this rare beauty has only the life of a cut flower and will only be open for a fleeting few days. But thankfully, we have these beautifully captured images of the space as a keepsake and a delicious primer on how Chanel herself might have designed a pop-up shop for the 21st century . . .    Louise
