01-At Home With | Claire Basler-This Is Glamorous

Our friend Felicity is quite obsessed with the paintings by French artist, Claire Basler, who was born in Vincennes, France in 1960 and studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts. It was at the Louvre, though, where she found her inspiration, spending hours around the masterpieces of the museum’s collections, becoming especially enamoured with the work of 18th Century French artists such as Watteau, which remain a point of reference for her own work. The artist’s true inspiration, however, comes from nature:

I LIKE DAISIES, FRAGILE AND PASSIONATE POPPIES,
BREEZES, WIND, GRACE, GENTLENESS AND ITS FORCE, STORMS, THE MYSTERY OF STILL WATERS.
THE VAST SKY IN THE PUDDLES THAT LINE A DIRT ROAD
AND THE TREE THAT FORCES ME TO BE SILENT, PATIENT.
THERE ARE MAGNIFICENT ONES AT BEAUVOIR.

Basler currently resides in a 13th century castle in Central France, Château de Beauvoir, where her work and life intermingle seamlessly . . .
