Fashion Inspiration: A Valentino Couture Photo Diary

by

A Valentino Fall Couture Photo DiaryFASHION AND CULTURE REMAIN INEXTRICABLY INTERTWINED in the house of Valentino, a fact proven at the elaborate set up of the Fall 2015 couture collection. Not only were guests treated to an alfresco fashion show in the legendary Piazza Mignanelli — where Valentino himself would set his fashion shows, with locals peeking from their windows and the sunset painting the square in a golden light — but the whole of Rome was transformed into a museum of the fashion house. The day before, Valentino dresses were placed throughout secret landmarks in the city, coming as a delightful surprise to the attendees. The combination of beautifully intricate gowns and the historical heritage they were set in made for beautiful photographs, and also showed the extent to which Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccoli are inspired by the grand city. After all, you can take Valentino out of Rome, but you can’t take Rome out of Valentino.

Victoria lives in the south of Spain, having moved there from her native country Ukraine when she was just a child. She finds herself looking up to timeless icons from past decades including Jackie O, Grace Kelly, Katherine Deneuve and Audrey Hepburn, and longing for sunny afternoons on the French Riviera and walks along the Seine during spring. Always overdressed and dishing out on tailored pieces and shoes – secretly dreaming they were from Dior or Saint Laurent – she dresses for herself rather than others, and would trade breakfast for Vogue or a one way ticket to anywhere beautiful.
