Hopefully you were able to check out last week’s 80’s Mega Mix, which includes over 100 songs. This week we return to our regular format of songs we have been playing around the office. Yesterday was the official first day of summer–hope yours is off to a great start. –P.

Astronauts are a London-based electro folk outfit who will release their debut album Hollow Ponds in July. “Skydive” is the beautifully cascading first single from the album.

 


2012 Mercury Music Prize winners alt-j return with a new single, “Hunger Of The Pine”, from their upcoming sophomore release This Is All Yours set for a September release.

 


There has been a lot of buzz surrounding French DJ and producer, 20syl, since his remixes of Kendrick Lamar and SchoolboyQ earlier this year. “Ongoing Thing” is from is new Ep, Motifs, released earlier this month and features veteran rapper Oddisee.

 


Jurassic 5 are an alternative hip hop group who, after a promising start to their career in the early 90’s, split up in 2007 over creative differences. The group reformed in 2013 and “The Way We do It” is their first release since reforming. The single cleverly samples on the White Stripes “My Doorbell” from their 2005 album Get Behind Me Satan.

 


Time of The Season” was initially released as B-side in 1968 by English rock band The Zombies. The song charted a year later in 1969, at number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, but the band had split by then. NME rated the song the number 35 song of the 60’s. Here, the classic 60’s anthem is given a contemporary remix that doesn’t deviate too far from the original by Los Angeles production duo dveloped.
