. . . one of the best things about this work, besides having the chance to do things one loves every day, is the chance to work with wonderfully talented people; this past month, was invited to collaborate with emily maynard of elva fields, on a custom, one-of-a-kind necklace design for their fantastic leading ladies series, and it was such an extravagantly fun project, beginning with the collection of a few inspirational images and ideas to give emily an idea of the general direction — [here & here] — click here to read about the entire process . . .portobello-beach

. . . and to find out how we arrived from pearls and golden pewter, indian brass and enamel, rhinestones and vintage brass to this, for what began in shades of palest pinks and crystal emerged as a treasure washed along the shores of the north sea, little starfish and coral that might have belonged to a shimmery mermaid . . .

. . . and despite travelling and being in the midst of moving houses and an array of different timezones, had somehow managed to keep correspondence with emily and complete the design [just] before the deadline, even braving the icy winds of a beach on a monday evening in late november to capture this beautiful creation in the fading light and rising tide . . .

{p.s.} for those that asked, as this necklace is a custom design, it is, therefore, one-of-a-kind and not available for purchase — there are, however, many, many other beautiful options on the site, including these three, which are current favourites : one /// two /// three xo
