. . . sometimes the most inspiration comes from things we have never before seen, or places we have never before been, and so it is with these gauzy, dream-like and light-filled photographs of intricately carved wood and gilded ceilings, chandeliers, floral wallpaper and velvet, in hungary [budapest & keszthely] a place had never before considered, until now . . .

{p.s.} and if you're only just arriving, a stunningly give-away . . .

Budapest is an amazing place. I was always amazed by it every time we went. The library is a wonderful place. I love the wood work and yes the chandelier is a piece of art.
Wonderful post!
Truly beautiful. Like transporting into another time.

I had the joy of living/working in Hungary for eight months and it was utterly delightful. It's an enchanting place to which I am longing to return...

So beautiful.
Have a great week.
This makes me want to sit down with a book...maybe in my gorgeous library.
This is perfect. Untravelled territory brings such joy to my heart.
Cheers to a new week!

I went to Hungary once and it really does look like this. There are beautiful cafes with this ornate decoration. And the most wonderful displays of cakes! Enjoying a hot chocolate and a slice of cake is just part of the experience. I'd forgotten all about that trip - thanks for reminding me!

I am hungarian living in Hungary, so let me help with a little correcton: it is Keszthely not keszthelyi and Zalaegerszeg not zala.
Oh, but sadly my homeland is absolutly not that fancy, it is just a few pictures:-)
zsuzsa -- yes, had wondered about that re: keszthely, but decided to use the photographer's labels of where the images were taken, despite their being seemingly incorrect -- thank you x
And for the first time, I've been inspired to travel to Hungary :) The light quality is beautiful, so very dreamy.
Simply Stunning!

I live here, in Keszthely, Hungary! It'beautiful! Everybody should come and see it! :-)
Let me disagree with Zsuzsa, I'm also a Hungarian, and in my opinion our country has plenty of gorgious places and fantastic sceeneries, good cuisine, great thermal baths all over the country, etc., well, economy is another question, but as a tourist, you won't be disappoined, for sure.
So very beautiful. I never tire of looking at architecture. I love my career, Interior Designer, because I appreciate the history so much more after a fine arts education. Thank you for sharing these photos.
