{two lovely things: cool august nights}

by

. . . summer is flying pass at a stunning pace and soon, the hot, sultry days will slip away into cool august nights, and quite adore the idea of mixing soft cashmere sweaters with the shortest skirts, or cozy cardigans with perfectly tailored city shorts . . .

  • August is perfect weather to me, not to hot to make dressing up difficult but no need to be all bundled up either. These images are stylish perfection!

  • I literally have 10 sweaters like the last one….people ask me why I keep buying “the same sweater” but I just can’t help it!

  • Lovely. However, I must tell everyone that August in Washington, DC (including nights) is hot as Hades:) Nice to think about coolness, though.

I’m so far behind in house duties, that I’m off to pick up drycleaning & store sweaters. Oh gawd. to think of wearing them again, no matter how hot I feel now, no no no. A thousand times, no. OK, I cannot do a thing about it. See? Acceptance came quickly. I might be growing up (finally).

    ciao

  • I adore these outfits. They’re the perfect transition from summer to autumn :)

  • I need that fabulous cable knit too – {r} do you have the UK vogue the editorial is from? Do you know who did the sweater? I’m officially on a mission!

  • Great pairing. I love the textures and colors.xx

  • camel, right up there with gray as my favorite color to wear … that last cardigan is surface to air. £250.

  • I personally love cardigans. I can’t wait…

  • I will take one of each! Love every piece.

  • Couldn’t agree with you more. The sweater is such a friend as we wind down into the fall and need a bit of warmth to keep us in our shorts and skirts.

  • It’s the cross body bag that caught my eye. Any idea who makes it?

  • Loving the neutral color and the sweater with shorts. And the shoes!

  • August has to be my favourite month. The days are still warm and endearing, and it’s so pleasant to be out at night.

ps – thanks for your comment!

  • Two very beautiful photos! I always love August as the weather begins to cool and you make the transition form wearing summer cloths to fall/winter items, and even mix in a bit of both!

  • August nights just aren’t cool here:( In fact, sometimes September nights are still hot and humid in NY. I always think summer is my favorite season, but then I’m quickly reminded it’s fall. The warm days and chilly nights are the best. Happy weekend, sweet pea!

  • Love your blog. I am now a follower.

  • hello everyone! seems there is a lively debate over summer vs fall :)

just wanted to clarify a few things – first of all, absolutely adore summer – still by far, my most favourite month and by no means am counting down the days until autumn; secondly, august nights are definitely not cold, although on certain nights, the temperature does dip a little, and hence the need for a light sweater, a perfect complement to short skirts and city shorts – in fact, only mentioning sweaters at all in this summer heat because simply adore both of these outfits and think both are perfect transitions from summer’s end to fall . . .

hope you are well and as always, thanks so much for taking a moment to say hello!
    xoxo
