{a new week + silver pendants}

Once had dinner in an ultra-cool, very modern restaurant with an enormous silver dome lighting fixture above its high-gloss serving bar. Encountered this dramatic lighting once again, last summer, at The Glass House, a beautiful hotel in Edinburgh, where the extravagantly sized fixture hung above a warm and wonderful circular fireplace surrounded by luxurious seating. Discovered the lighting again at another hotel, this time in New York, at The Hudson.

Love the way these pendants look in dining areas, warmed up with soft pillows on banquets, against hints of colour and the grain of wood.

I love these domed lighting fixtures and how they are paired with curved chairs.

They are gorgeous, but mostly this post reminds me about how I would kill to have a window seat.

I love the window seat - that is the only thing I really wish my house had that it doesn't.

This is much too sterile for me... I prefer a warmer, cozier setting. Though the use of light is amazing.

They seem to be heavily 70's influenced, for some strange reason it reminds me of the 70's (not that I was even born yet).
I like that they are different

You see, this is why interior designers are so essential...Seeing the unseen. Out of context, one would never this that such a humble design could add such punch to a space. But as that top photo illustrates, such a pedestrian fixture can indeed be quite glam!

I like the way they painted that shade of gray halfway up the wall on the first one. It's a nice colour, I would say that gray is HC-169. Love those dining rooms, so warm & cozy feeling!

Patricia -- loved the curved chair pairings as well, and Colour Me Happy -- agree that the half-painted gray is such a great design element to the room

Franki -- definitely -- would not have fallen for these fixtures had I not seen them in Edinburgh and then New York -- always fun to mix things, such as ultra-modern with French country or new romantic or traditional styles.

Rossana -- thank you!
