{beautiful sample of Karl Lagerfeld's photographic work for Chanel}Late Thursday morning, I received a perfectly delightful e-mail from Glamorous reader Joy, who was fortunate enough to happen upon a Karl Lagerfeld photoshoot while out enjoying the Spring sunshine the previous day:
"This is glamorous! Love, love, love your blog and read it daily!
While running around town yesterday, I stumbled upon a Karl Lagerfeld shoot for Fendi. Karl himself was taking many of the photos. It was a perfect 60 degrees and all the onlookers sat quietly taking the experience in. Surely, it was a nice way to kill an hour. It's amazing what you see day to day on the streets of New York.
Thought you would enjoy these photos!"
{images 2 - 4 property of Joy M., NYC}You may or may not know that the world-famous couturier, {currently for Fendi, Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld}, is also famous for his photography as well as his designs and has published more than 20 books of photography. Joy managed to snap some wonderful candid shots of the designer {including behind the lens!}, and so thoughtfully sent them along . . .

i had no idea he was also a photographer! These are great candid snaps.
how amazing to run into that! the first dress you posted in the chanel ad... THAT is my FAVORITE DRESS! i want to wear it on my wedding day. it's gorgeous. have a lovely weekend!
So cool! But where's his fan?!
I didn't know K.L. was a photographer either! How fun.
Interesting that he didn't take off his dark glasses to shoot the photos! I'm impressed! :o Lana
Topsy Turvy--that's hilarious--I hadn't even realized he was wearing his dark glasses behind the camera!
Lagerfeld is just too talented. What a character! And how lucky for Joy to be passing by during this shoot!

You never know what you'll find out and about in NYC. And to think that the crowd was respectful enough not to ruin the shoot!
wow! That was a lucky catch! I wish I lived in New York. *sigh*
This is awesome. And the dress is to die for.
These are great! How nice of Joy to share her pics!
I totally walked right past him at the hotel I was staying at in Miami Beach (our client has a place there) and he was dressed just like that-only without the wool coat. He also had an entourage of, like, 15 people with him! He seems like a character (but I guess with that much talent, one is allowed)!
I love that chanel dress I remember when Mischa wore it on the OC.
Ooh Lucky her! So sweet of her to send u this..

wow, what an amazind experience! Thank you to Joy for the photos
You are all so welcome for the photos I took and a Big Thanks to 'This Is Glamorous' for posting them! What a hoot!
Mr. Lagerfeld was great fun to shoot off the fly. Jay Z is the new face of Fendi. He showed up for the shoot as well but my camera battery died, so I missed the shots. I carry my camera daily because I just never know what I'll see (great window display, shoes someone is wearing, a great dish at at restaurant, a gorgeous new flaovored martini that looks so great in the glass that I want my walls painted in just that color)...

Very cool photos!!
When I used to work at the Met, a few weeks before the Chanel exhibition opened, I literally bumped into him on the elevator.
I was in my usual hurry and daydreaming and was waiting for the elevator - which was usually empty. When the doors opened, I barged in but he kept his cool, smiled while I embarrassingly apologised profusely.
As I went down on the elevator, on my own, it ocurred to me that he seems to slide or float and not walk, he's so calm and collected!!
What a great story, Claudia! He appears to have quite a presence, and how fantastic it must be to so calm and collected . . .
what!!! i live in new york too but... :( i'm so jealous!
I can't tell you how much I would love to trip up on Lagerfeld. I would have to thank him for all thr inspiration and dreams he has given me for all these years/
